The circular economy

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

CIRCULAR ECONOMY :

Economic model taking into account the environmental impact of all its stakeholders and that favors all methods of reducing consumption of raw materials and energy by improving their utilisation and promoting responsible consumption.

* The life cycle of a product takes into account all the activities that are involved in the manufacturing, use , transportation and disposal of this product.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY STEPS

  1. 1.
    CIRCULAR ECONOMY OFFERS AND STAKEHOLDERS

  2. 2.
    DEMAND AND CONSUMER BEHAVIOR

  3. 3.
    WASTE MANAGEMENT

  1. 1. CIRCULAR ECONOMY OFFERS AND STAKEHOLDERS

    • SUSTAINABLE SUPPLY

« Have a supply which favors the recycled materials, the effective respectful renewable exploitation of the resources, their conditions of renewal as well as the extraction of raw materials by using the best available technologies by limiting the impacts on the environment and without wasting. »
      ADEME

Eg: the timber PEFC certified network

    • ECO DESIGN

« This design of goods and services address the entire life cycle of a process, product or service in order to minimize environmental impacts. This approach is based on a multi criteria vision. ».

Eg: weight reduction of plastic bottles by a third in 10 years

    • INDUSTRIAL AND TERRITORIAL ECOLOGY

« Industrial and territorial ecology , also called industrial symbiosis , is a way of organizing inter-enterprise trade flow or pooling needs. »
      ADEME

Eg: Farm which méthanise bio-waste to produce some energy for itself and for the close local companies.

    • ECONOMICS OF THE FEATURE

« The economy of the feature focuses on the ownership use and tends to sell services bound to products rather than products themselves. It applies to sustainable or semi-sustainable goods. » ADEME

      Eg: Car Sharing

  2. 2. DEMAND AND CONSUMER BEHAVIOR

    • RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION ( PURCHASE AND USE )

« The responsible consumption has to lead the buyer whether he is an economic player (private or public) or consumer citizen to make his choice by taking into account the environmental impacts in all the stages of his life cycle of products (goods or services). »

      Eg: Buy furniture environmental friendly

      Download file

    • EXTENSION OF USE DURATION (RE-USE , REPAIR )

« The re-use allows, by donation or second-hand sale, to extend the usage of products not meeting the needs any more of the first consumer. The re-use leads to the fact that certain waste can be reconditioned or repaired or defused and the working parts sorted then resold. Repairing means making the product function again, allowing it to find the second life without the user having to through it away or after having given it away. » ADEME

Eg: To repair the phone rather than buy a new one

      Download file

  3. 3. WASTE MANAGEMENT

    • RECYCLING

« The recycling aims at using raw materials stemming from waste, closed-loop (similar products) or in open-loop (use in other types of goods). » ADEME

Eg: Recycle paper up to 5 times
