100% recycled plastic for all small bottles sold in France by Coca-Cola

1er April 2022
From April 2022, all 50cl PET bottles of Coca-Cola with or without sugar, Coca-Cola light, Sprite and Fanta brands will be made from 100% recycled plastic (rPET). This transition represents more than 200 million bottles per year, which represents approximately 4,000 tonnes of virgin plastic used each year in their manufacture*. The use of 100% recycled plastic reduces the carbon footprint of each bottle by 70%**. They join Tropico, Smartwater, Honest, Powerade and Fuze Tea, which are already available in 50cl format, 100% recycled plastic (rPET).

The goal by 2030 is to achieve 100% recycled plastic on all bottles in the portfolio, eliminating over 200,000 tonnes of virgin plastic used per year in Europe.

In December 2020, as part of its Climate Plan, CCEP France set a target of an absolute reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of 30% across its entire value chain by 2030 (compared to 2019) and an ambition of “Net Zero” carbon neutrality by 2040, in line with a trajectory of limiting the increase in global temperature to 1.5°C and the Paris Climate Agreements. CCEP has committed to invest €250 million over three years to accelerate the decarbonisation of its activities.
